IBA Travel Account:  No, IBAs are not tax exempt
CBA Travel Account: Only tangible personal property invoiced directly to and paid by federal government agencies that have an exemption identification number (E-number) are exempt.  Other purchases will not be exempt. 
GSA SmartPay Tax Advantage Travel Card Account:  Yes, includes CBAs that are exempt for lodging and rental cars only.  
Purchase Account (CBA):  Only tangible personal property invoiced directly to and paid by federal government agencies that have an exemption identification number (E-number) are exempt.  Other purchases will not be exempt.   

Attention: Illinois levies taxes on the merchant or vendor, which can then be passed on to the account holder regardless of what type of account is used. 

Note:  The GSA SmartPay Tax Advantage Travel Card Account  will not be available until November 30, 2018.

What forms if any will I need?
No forms are required; however, you will need an exemption identification number (or E-number).  For information on how to receive an E-number, contact the Illinois Department of Revenue.
